[s-cars] Temp & Trans Question

joe,
i did it recently, and the list got to hear all about it.
replacement is easy, as the MFTS is at the front of the engine,
under the intake manifold. the hardest part is finding the 29mm deep
socket required to remove the MFTS.
be careful with the connector, as the plastic cracked and crumbled
as i tried to remove it. it happened to other people, too. we all
just put them back and they work fine.
place some rags to soak up coolant that spills. as you remove the
old MFTS, put your finger over the hole to keep the coolant from
flowing out. keep the new one handy so you can pop it right in.
i didn't lose more than a tablespoon of coolant, and it took me
only about 5 minutes.
i don't know if there's a problem with your MFTS, though. mine showed
that it was dying by abruptly dropping to zero even when the engine
was still hot. and turning the engine off and back on caused it to
go back up to normal, so i knew it was the MFTS and not the thermostat.
