Hi all,
I just completed a 2400 mi trip (vacation?) through Nevada, Cali and
back to Idaho - 12 days, 2 adults, 3 kids and a stuffed rocket box -
whew - only in the Audi urS6 Avant! The only thing better would have
done it in the snow!
I managed to get my phillips HID kit and euro lenses installed 1 hr
prior to leaving. The trip would have been impossible with out this
mod. I managed to miss all the black bovines sleeping in the middle of
the road in central Nevada.
(By the way, in "free range" states if you slam a cow, horse, pig etc, you
are liable for the livestock, regardless if your whole car, family etc
was wiped out in the process. All because ranchers are allowed to graze
on (our) public land without being required to put up fences. The
grazing fees are not even enough to pay for fencing). But thats another
story.....
Now the issue -
The kit was wired without relays. When I switch the lights on, the
idiot light comes on with warning bell for a few seconds then goes out -
no biggie. But I also noticed the speedo needle will momentarily drop
way down and the radio / CD player will go off and stay off. If I
switch the radio back on all is fine. Lighting fuse is stock and has
not blown.
I initially wired up the HID's with relays and because the idiot light
would stay on, I opted to not use the relays. All seemed fine until
driving and noticing the speedo and radio issues. Will this damage the
speedo and / or radio?
Any thoughts?
I could rewire using relays and the go to the trouble of disabling the
idiot lights by the posted method of soldering on the circuit boards
etc. This sounds like a bit of a pain.....
Thanks for all your wisdom
Aaron
