Or you can just remove the entire oil pump/cover assembly (only about 6
small bolts),& punch the seal out from behind

The kit you rented should have come with the seal remover, it makes the
job much easier, I can't imagine doing it without it. At this point, I
would call you tool supplier and ask them to overnight the seal puller
or maybe you can borrow one from a local repair shop.

You knew this email was coming after reading my last one. :-P
Any idea how to get the crank seal out? I've tried the trick on SJM
about drilling a hole and using a sheet metal screw. No luck. The
screw tears right out. If anyone has any idea how this is done
(apparently without the tool since the kit I rented didn't include one)?
Even if you don't know the right way, any way is better than no way. At
this point, if anyone has the tool I'll give you a billion dollars for
it!
