I did a full removal of the factory sound system about
2 months ago on my 1993 S4.  Here's the new system:

All new wiring (monster car audio)
Alpine CDA-7873 60wX4 head unit
Alpine 6 disc changer with MP3 playback
Infinity Kappa speakers in stock size all around
JL Audio 12w3 subwoofer w/kenwood 250 watt amp

The system sounds GREAT except for one thing:

FRONT IMAGING SUCKS!

The front speakers are way-undersized, and you'll be
very disappointed with the sound from the front if you
dont hack apart your door panels to fit larger
speakers, or go with a set of custom kick panels (this
is on my to-do list)  Otherwise, the sound quality and
the acoustics of the car are pretty good.

On that note, does anyone on the list have a custom
door panel or kick panel setup?  I'd like to know how
much of an improvement in front imaging you get over
the stock speaker sizes and locations.  I was thinking
of doing 6.5" components in kick panels.
