A few of my favourites when local - canadian - part stores do not have
the part I'm looking for:
The most practical: http://catalog.thepartsbin.com/ Go on the web site,
select your car and the part you want, check the price, click order,
wait a few days. Voilà. Don't ask for knowledge or rare parts though and
their prices are not always the cheapest on the market.
The most knowledgeable: http://www.thepartsconnection.com/ According
this list and the 20V list, Rod at The Parts Connection seems to be THE
guy to talk to when you want advice on the part you need. They also have
very good prices. I didn't use them much as they are across the border
for me but I got a very good service when I needed it, he always had the
part nobody else had, and it's still the most recommended place on the
Audi lists.
A good one too: http://www.audiquattroparts.com/ I never dealt with them
but a lot of listers happilly did. A few problems have been reported
during the past 4 years but usually very reliable and fast.
All the used part you want: http://car-part.com/ When you'll need used
parts, I don't know a place with more than this site. When I needed a
front grill for my S6, this site found 5! Hard to beat!

Hello:
Looking for a source to buy set for four wheels of brakes pads and
rotors for the A6 1998, which I think has the same set up as my S6. I
may also need a new rear caliper, as it seems frozen. BTW, would this
induce a noise like a rattling hubcap when the car is turned to the
left (only from the front right wheel). The gaiters seem fine with no
leakage or cracks. Car has 55,000 miles. It sounds exactly the same as
an old volvo I used to have which clicked and rattled when I went
around turns because of a loose large hubcap. The A6 doesn't have
hubcaps of course. Anyway, any help on sources and advice is
appreciated. Local mech wants around 12 to 1500 to fix and thinks the
rotors rattling the brakes is the source of the noise. OUch.
Thanks for the help.
Rich
