It is easy!  My stromung (gen1) kept hitting my trans, so I thought a
strategically-placed hammer blow would solve the clearance issue.
Well,it solved that problem, but it also shattered the ceramic monolith into
little pieces.

What's the best way to get the ceramic honeycomb material out of a catalytic
converter?
Not that I would ever want to do that...but if I did.  Any of you have
friends
who have successfully done this?
