The avant is awesome - I love mine which is stock.  My budget has not
allowed any of the "required" upgrades so I have not had to bury my
wallet. - Maybe you should............
I can help as it sounds like your thermostat may be toast.  Replacement
is easy and a good time for a coolant flush.
