Paul,

Thanks.  I found the emergency crank and was able to
close the roof window. When the roof window is opened
(using the power mechanism) it stops halfway again.
At least I can drive or leave the car in the weather
without worry of soaking the interior.

The battery is good.  Again, the mechanism seems to
simply turn off when the window is halfway closed.  It
does not sound as though the mechanism reaches a point
where the motor is under heavy load.  I would still
appreciate hearing from anyone knowing whether there
is a way to adjust the stop points on the mechanism.
I would love to avoid a trip to the dealer!
