It has been unusually hot here in Seattle, some 90+ days, consequently my S=
6 Avant had a spite of no start after being parked a short while. Opening t=
he hood and letting it cool down for 20 mins or so and she would restart an=
d run fine, Ceck Engine Lite is on.
Ran the codes and it showed "Cam Position Sensor Intermittant".
Drove it another day and it failed again, same result, restart after cool d=
own.

I replaced the Cam Position Sensor, and I was thinking that this is another=
part that might be best replaced when you are doing your timing belt, espe=
cially if you are at 120,000 miles.
It turned out to be about a 3 hour job, doing it the first time, with consu=
lting various manuals and web pages.

Not a pleasant job to do on a hot day, but not out of the realm of the aver=
age shade tree mechanic.
