[s-cars] Clutches - Stock vs. Aftermarket

A Gimmick?!  Tell that to the guy who is running 500+ HP with his "gimmick" clutch and lightweight FW.  I am not saying that SPEC makes a bad clutch or anything but sheesh.  Have you driving or had any bad experiences w/ the CF clutches?

I run the same clutch as Mr. Maguire the "Dual-Friction" from CenterFroce.  And very similar costs to the Audi OEM clutch, nearly stock pedal feel (bit firmer) and holds like mad but still very smooth when engaging/disengaging the clutch.  I would not hesitate to purchase it again.  I have no experience w/ the SPEC clutches so I cannot comment.

I would go with www.specclutch.com great service, better than oem with
more choices.  If you are going to keep your stock flywheel they have a
light weight option that would be great to reduce your inertial mass.

IMHO Centerforce is nothing more than a gimmick, I wouldn't bother.

I'm going the full RS2 boat on the S6 Wagon, and was wondering about
clutches.  The stock clutch seems very stout, but the clutch on my 1990
200TQA will slip under hard first gear acceleration.  Is it worth it to
go
with aftermarket, such as Centerforce (or the aftermarket clutch of your
choice)?  Or better to go stock, which seems to offer bullet-proof
reliability?
