Could it be? After months of consternation about the Euro light GP we
appear to be on the verge of actually having some stuff to buy! All the
details are not quite in place, but I thought a heads-up (more like a wakeup
call) would be in order so everyone who wants in could start saving their
lunch money.
For mid-September delivery it would be $509/pr with 55W bulbs for the 95-97
cars, which I think is a pretty darn good deal. For the 92-94 cars it's not
quite as super (never is, never was) at $699/pr with 55W bulbs.
For better bulbs the Philips Vision Plus and the Osram Silver Star are
apparently 50% brighter than their standard 55W brethren and run about
$25/pr. That's the same price neighborhood for 100 watters with no the need
for relays, and I hear they're indistinguishable from the 100s.
H1 HID kits are in the $400 range for CATZ, which have been used by listers
with good results. There is a rumor afoot that after mid-August HID kits
will be banned for sale in the US due to DOT and NHTSA protecting their
phony-baloney jobs, but I don't know for sure about that.
More as it develops. Film at 11.
