[s-cars] getting her back together

Hone them, you can use a flex hone, you just want to brake the glaze
otherwise the pistons rings will never seat properly. After you do this
spray down everything with a good brake cleaner, after you hone you will
get a fine haze of metal on the walls, all this needs to come off. When
you hone try not to get anything on the crank, it is just that you will
have to clean it that much more if you do. I then like to spray the
bores with WD-40 or some other light oil you don't want to rust the
bores but you want to get all of the metal off of them. You can also
spray them with a dry carbon lube, but for this make sure that the bores
are dry, I use a propane torch, with will ensure that the rings seal
really well. It is kind of a pain so I only do it on rings that I am
worried about. If you want you can do this to the main bearings, kind
of a cheap way to dry lube them, it is an old race car engine builders
trick, protect your indium.

Hi everyone,
I spent last night switching stuff over to the new ported, polished, etc.
head I bought from Hap. I also took the pistons out and replaced the
rings and put the pauter rods on. Today I am going to try to get
everything back together and wondered if the cylinders need to be honed.
They look fine, with no visual damage so I was leaning toward not honing
them but thought I'd ask. Thanks,

Elijah
