Hey guy's I know that some of you where interested in the poly-center
bearing for the driveshaft, so I thought I would respond to the list.

First it isn't a drop in unit on the URS* cars, I had to make a mounting
bracket. Other than that it worked out just fine. I didn't notice any
vibration issues even at extended high speeds or anywhere in between.
We ran this on the One Lap plus about 1k of miles before that so it has
around 8k miles on it.

Here are some pictures of the bearing and the mount.

I think if I did it again I would make the mount out of one piece of
mild steel or stainless rather than welding up different pieces of cold
rolled. I have drawings and could make some billet mounts up if anyone
is interested. Basically John sold me the bearing with the steel
holder, I made the bracket that goes from the holder to the body of the
car.

Hi Trevor,

A few months ago you mentioned that John Nelson was making a center poly
bushing for the center carrier on our UrS cars, and that you had ordered
one. My driveshaft is silent except in the heavy rain (standing water
on
road) or slushy snow, but quiet in powder. Very strange. I plan to
lube the CV's, but the vibration is definitely the center bearing, or
the torsen going insane. No clunking or vibration on hard accel or
decel, and the rubber bushing seems fine.

Have you noticed any increased driveline vibration after going with his
unit?

Seeing as how Lime Rock is next week, I want to contact John and see if
he can get a carrier to me by friday, if possible. Do you have his
contact info? If you have not yet installed, and want me to guinea pig
it for you, let me know.

Thanks,

Ray
