"The Kink" is really an anomolly. It's caused many a mishap (I remember
seeing a 911 going backwards into a wall behind me there)... but, if you
look at it from ground level or even walk it, you don't see the problem.
But, it is a tricky spot and I think it ads to the challenge of that fine
track.
But, for the most part Road America is a world-class track and very safe.
We have some tracks up here that are, um, not so safe. If you run off, you
are gonna hit something and do some damage (and hopefully not get hurt).
I'm all about building safer tracks and making improvements to provide added
safety... But, I don't want to make the tracks easier... Jut add more
sandtraps, berms, tire walls, and lots of runoff space! That way I learn my
lesson, and the only thing that gets hurt is my ego.
