[s-cars] UU---Wheels, deals, camber plates, and pads(long)

A very worthwhile subject. One question of interest is, where do the
Superleggera's fit in on the range of hard to soft? I've wondered about the
detereoration in ride going from OZ Volcano's with 225/45 SP9000's to
Superleggera's with 245/40 HTR-ZII's.

On another topic, it seems that this charter.net service is functioning
properly, lately, after a couple of stretches of apparently missed emails
coming in and outgoings that never got there. Anyone else have a similar
experience? When my telocity DSL went under, I tried to get Earthline DSL
so that I could use their national access, as opposed to the local BellSouth
DSL. Although telocity used the BellSouth lines, Earthlink has not been
able to get me service. First, they said that their info showed that my
connection would not be up to their minimum speed offering, which was bull,
as the telocity link always ran faster than advertised, as well as faster
than the Earthlink qualifying speed. Then, the story turned to the fact
that BellSouth has installed optical cable and now realizes they have an
advantage that they don't want to give away/license to a competitor. Does
this make any sense? The cable modem was just supposed to be a bridge until
a new DSL and has basically sucked. Any suggestions? It looks like I'll
just have to go with BellSouth and their limited out-of-region
access...maybe just maintain AOL dialup for traveling?

Thanks,

Steve

A very interesting subject... Recall the RS4 "soft wheels" which are
supposedly that way on purpose to protect fragile suspension components.

I'd be interested to hear more discussion on this, as I swapped over from
soft OZs to hard SSR's on my car a year ago, not just for improved looks and
reduced unsprung weight, but because I was tired of bending rim lips when
driving around Detroit....

Cheers,
Keith

Guys

Speaking of that pothole encounter I'd like to discuss hard vs soft wheels.
My TSWs are a soft wheel and that combined with the 2nd generation 2Bennett
camber/caster plates allowed my suspension to absorb the blow of the pothole
without damaging any suspension components. All that was required was a new
4
wheel allignment and 1 new rim and I was on my way. Unfortunately, my rims
were no
longer available so I had to go with a new set of rims but since these have
just been released, I shouldn't have that problem if I go through with this
again. Another CO Mafioso who had a similar experience with hard rims and
ended
up with numerous bent suspension pieces. I guess the saying that you pays
your
money and you takes your chances really does apply here. I don't know who
came
out better but I just didn't like the sound of bent pieces.
