[s-cars] Climate Control problem

My climate control in my 93 S4 doesn't seem to be working.
 Whenever I us the A/C, the compressor runs for about 7
seconds, then shuts off for 7 seconds, and then back on for
7, then off for 7, and it just keeps doing this until I
shut it off.  Any idea what the problem is?  Has anyone
replaced the brains of the climate control (I assume this
is the head unit in the dash)?  If so, how much did it
cost?
