There is a pressure switch on the low pressure side that you *could* remove,
and charge thru there.
But, I have to say, with out gauges and the proper equipment how are you to
tell you have not overcharged it.
This would contribute to a sizable problem with 134a, as it expands quite
well in high ambient temps.
You may park your car in a hot summer day only to find a few new dents or
creases in the sheet metal from exploding 134a.

But, as advised please tape the episode. It would make for a great weekend
NAC Theatre :-)
