[s-cars] Lovin the Factory Radio

It has been four years since I first started driving
an Audi with the Bose/Audi/Blaupunkt/Alpine factory
audio system (first a 95 A6, now the S6 - both with
the smaller radio that is also in the earlier s cars,
not the later wider radio), and I keep getting more
and more unsatisfied with it by the minute. For one,
as you all have told me repeatedly, adding a CD
changer if your car was never ordered with one is just
about impossible without spending like $800, or
stealing someones tranformer box thing. On that note,
if anyone has one of those box things they don't
want/need I would be happy to make you an offer. As if
making the CD changer as elusive as possible wasn't
enough the bose people decided they would build a
system into the car that was unlike anything else in
the car stereo world so that no one could just change
one thing. Well, I have been thinking a lot about all
of this and have come up with an idea that I think
could work, but I just wanted to check to see if
anyone had tried this yet before I went and ruined my
system. I think I could add a new head unit by finding
which wires go to each of the amps (or maybe its just
one set that is split father down) and just splicing
the aftermarket radio's pre amp outs into those and
allowing the factory bose amps to do their thing. Does
anyone have any objections to this? Please let me know
before I do anything stupid. Also, does anyone know
what the schematics mean that are printed on the back
of the reciver, I can make out some of it, but haven't
a clue for most of it. Thanks so much for any help. If
I can get enough info about this to do it
successfully, I'll definately post the results.
