[s-cars] creaking in the rear

Almost certainly the rear transverse links are the cause. The outer
joint tends to wear. You may get a little more life out of it by soaking
it in some light lubricant that will penetrate the rubber seals, but if
there is a lot of play in the joint the only way to get rid of the noise
for good is to replace. I believe they sell for about $120 a side.

Subject: [s-cars] creaking in the rear

Hello,

Unfortunately, my 1995.5 S6 Avant seems to have decided that it wants to
annoy me every morning with creaking noises from the rear suspension. I
think they started soon after a big icy rainstorm last weekend here in
Boston. I'm fairly sure that some of the salt/rain/crud got in there and
is causing the creaking, so I would like to know if anyone else has
already fixed something like this and could point me towards the right
set of components/joints to lube up or otherwise clean out.

Thanks,
Edwin
