We would like to support Handspring, as they do make some very nice
and affordable PDAs. The problem lies in their serial interface.
They only supply RX, TX and GND. They do not provide RTS, which we
also require.
We are investigating other options that would allow us to run on
a Handspring, such as USB, but the work is still in the early stages.
If you are considering a PDA just for use as a diagnostic tool, you
might check out the "Open Box" deals at the Palm Store
(http://store.palm.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=1179667).
You can get a Open Box Palm VII or m100 straight from Palm for only $79.
Avoid the Zire as it is USB only.
Good luck with you decision.
