Guys. Sorry to announce this, but I got a new car two days ago; one I like
much, much better than my 95.5 S6. I took the old one to a not-so-nearby
shop to be disposed of - took me an hour to get there FCOL! Anyway, there,
after some waiting and fidgeting, I was presented with my new car. It's a
beautiful red, with black leather interior (kind of reminiscent of the S6),
with cool interior features like leather and wood trim, seat heaters,
etc...(I'm stuck on luxury cars). I took it out for a final inspection
before purchase, and in a word, wow. This thing hugs the road, accelerates,
corners - man this does everything right. Really different than my old car.
I came back to the shop, and as I pulled in, I saw the previous owner of my
old S6 standing there with a s**t eating grin on his face. He's a long time
friend and I could tell he was very pleased about something. Turns out he
was having something done to his car. I couldn't wait to introduce him to
my new one, but he demurred, saying BTDT. Oh. Well fine.

So anyway, I paid up and took the hour long ride back to my house to
introduce myself to this new ride. Guys, it's everything I've ever wanted
in a car. Unpretentious, fast, nice lines, comfortable to drive, corners
great, heater works good (I'm still in Chicago after all), overall it says
"I'm totally cool but don't need to say it out loud". I have a new love.
Just like when I got my first really fast and nimble motorcycle. It's a
love of power and mobility, without the huge show-off factor.

I just hope my very good friend (the PO) won't miss the MTM Stage 1+ setup
he used to have in his 95.5 Avant too much. But don't cry for him, he's got
a chipped 2000 S4 as well. I suppose it will be ok if the wife's Avant is
stock. But my bet is it won't stay that way long...

John - moving fast, stopping sure, going through the snow at will, in
Chicago.
