Ron, check your voltage at the cigarette lighter with the car running
using a voltmeter, then again at the battery with the car off. Suspect
that you have a faulty voltage regulator somewhere in the system (and
yes, there are more than just the one in the alternator in the car's
electronics). Might not be it, but seems the place to start under the
KISS principle.
