I hope I am doing this right.  I am thinking of buying a '92 S4.  I have
driven it and it seems to have the transmission problem described on
www.urs4.com <http://www.urs4.com/>  with the whining sound.  The car
has 75k on it, how big of a problem can this be?  Will the whining
eventually lead to the transmission failing horribly or will it just be
an annoying noise?  Also on the front and rear bumpers the rubber part
is badly discolored, can it be replaced or re-painted?  Thanks and
