The Nissan Skyline GT-R is most definitely NOT a rally car- the
wheelbase is too long. It is quite successful in "touring car"
classes in the sanctioning bodies that allow it, though.

Starting from the R32 introduced in 1989, it has had a 2.6L
twin-turbo I-6 with 280hp and similar torque output. The ATTESA
AWD system is heavily rear-biased in the GT-R application, making
it drive a lot more like a RWD car. The R33 introduced an active
rear diff as well as some more refinements, the R34 is a slightly
smaller car (IIRC) than the R33 and a lot more square-edged.

Very easily modified to 450hp, not too hard to get it to 650hp,
very strong engine. If only they had them in LHD and in the US.

One of the major reasons for it not being in the US as well as
any LHD market is that the engine setup makes it very difficult
to put a steering column on the left-side of the car and the
emissions output does not meet US or some European countries'
standards.

The skyline is the ultimate 4-wheel drive rally car, available in most
markets, one that has never reached the american market because of it's
crash-crumple zone stats (would require a redesign). It's performance
specs are actually better than that of the stock Audi, although the
amenities are not nearly of the same caliber by a long shot.
