With the concept of the Cat being at the right temp, but still wanting
to protect the various parts of the car, the best thing you can do is
put a heat shield between the cat and anything else in such a manner
that it doesn't touch the cat itself (and doesn't block air from
flowing over the outside of the cat). The exhaust will get the Cat hot
enough to work...
