Richard,

This sounds like the ignition key recall KB problem.  Check to make
sure the key is returning from the start position to run, and check the
window  switches.  If this makes them work, then make sure you check it
every start or the starter may stay engaged, and your first indication
may be a smoking starter and subsequent fail to start.   There are
refs to DIY repair if the recall does not apply to your car.  You can

The actuator part is replaced, not the keyed part, so there are no
issues with the key operation.  HTH
