[s-cars] pedal feel

Paul is correct - my e-brake feels better than new, and better than most UrS
cars, and most Audi's in general. My cables are like new, and my calipers
receive the twice-annual pre & post winter clean and grease. <<please, Audi
Gods, don't hurt me>>
Yes, Paul's pedal is rock hard. I'm trying to convince him it is because
his brake pressure accumulator (aka "bomb") is shot. He's not buying it.
I'm due for front pads. Rears have about 60%. I replaced my rear lines
(for the third time), this time with SS lines. Pedal is not "rock" hard,
but hard. All bleeding done by vacuum bleed. Recently pressure bled only
the fronts, which improved pedal feel some, but I think pressure bleeding
all four corners is due.

Phil,
One thing that has a great influence on pedal feel is the rear e-brake
mechanism. It's designed to take up the slack it the rear calipers. If the
e-brake cams are sticky you will have a sucky pedal. If you can pull the
e-brake up more than a couple of inches you probably need to free the cams
and/or cables. This can make a huge difference in pedal feel. Using the
brake
often then keeps the rear pads tight against the rotors. Sometimes just
pulling the e-brake several times can improve the pedal feel a bit.
YMMV.

Just a data point...
My pedal feel with my 993TTs is mutherf'erbadass, best I've felt in the
various S cars I've driven in the area (not tooting my horn or nuthin'),
both mit and sans upgraded cals. I did Euro A8 slotteds / Mintex /
braided's in the rear at the same time, and full flush with super blue. I
use my ebrake all the time.
Now, interestingly enough, my ebrake has sucked major WANG since I bought
it, it works but barely. Even froze up once this winter requiring some cam
lobe "convincing". I'd already disassembled the mechanism and lubed, and
know I need new cables, one is bad.
So, apparently pedal feel is not 'strictly' correlated with ebrake
adjustment. Ray's ebrake (for example) was the cat's ass, yet my pedal felt
a bit better. Methinks it's pad thickness and a good "Rossato" bleed.
Thought I'd share.
