I can add value here (I think)
I still have the beer in my belly from doing this job
45 minutes ago. Thanks Wild Bill M for the how 2.
Basically, I came home from work with the Bosch 13913
sensor, grabbed a loose fitting 7/8 inch open end
wrench and popped the old O2 loose. It actually was
pretty easy with the leverage afforded by the foot
long wrench. Then, I cleverly grabbed the loose
sensor so I could twist it free by hand. This worked
well until my brain finally responded to the pain my
fingers nerves were reporting. There is a tremendous
amount of heat retained in that little f'er.
After finally getting the old one off, I lined the 2
sensors side by side on my work bench and cut each of
the 3 leads at lengths 1 inch apart. When doing this,
cut both the old sensor/harness and the new
sensor/inappropriate harness at the same time, with
the same tool. This assures similar lengths and (I
would assume) similar resistance to the stock setup.
I then crimped the old harness to the new sensor using
18 gauge butt crimps. By cutting the wires at
different lengths, I was able to slip the old
sheathing over the staggered crimps for an all stock
appearance.
Results? Same as before.... which is good and bad...
the good is that the repair was completed successfully
and I had a legitimate excuse to slug down a couple of
tonics... the bad, my car still misses under load...
Oh well. Take your time. Measure twice and cut once.
Ed
