Just having completed the same repair, here's what you need to do:
1) Get two pn 4A0 919 040 C 1w bulbs. These were $2.58 each from ClairParts
www.clairparts.com 800/354-5100.
2) Get two pn 893 919 040 A 2w bulbs. These were $2.69 each from ClairParts.
3) Slide out the ashtray to expose the bottom edge of the wood faceplate
surrounding the A/C head.
4) Gently pry out the wood faceplate. It is held in by two spring clips on
either side of the A/C controller. Don't be shy, the springs are strong,
just be gentle to ensure you don't mar the wood faceplate.
5) Remove the springs that formerly held the wood faceplate on. This needs
an allen wrench, maybe 5mm?
6) The A/C controller will now slide out. It has four electrical connectors,
each with a unique configuration, so there is only one way to re-attach.
7) Look at the back of the A/C controller faceplate. You can see the four
bulbs, but they're a PITA to get out. There are three obvious philips
screws. Remove these, and the front comes off.
8) Now the four bulbs are easy to get out. Take them out with a quarter
turn. The outers are the 2w ones, the inners are the 1w ones.
8) Assmebly, as they say, is the reverse of removal.
Enjoy lights again! HTH.

More questions!

The orange light behind the climate control window showing the temperature
is
out. Is there a light bulb that can be changed in this display? If so,
what's
the procedure for repairing it.

Mike - Having to turn on the overhead light to see what the temperature is
set
to. Ugh!
