[s-cars] HELP! 1993 Audi S4 Fault code 2113

First, Zac, where are you (geographically)?

I think we can rule out the ECU if both a substitute didn't
solve the issue and a Bosch service center said it was
faultless, although that does not necessarily rule out the
wiring between the ECU and the hall sensor.

The thing that comes to mind is that if the OBDC says the
hall sensor failed (a magnetic position sensor, usually
used to determine ignition position), and they replaced it
and it still says the hall sensor is failing, then either:
(A) they replaced it with a bad hall sensor, or;
(B) sensor is incorrectly installed, or;
(C) the wiring to the sensor is bad/shorting/loose, or;
(D) the pick-up location for the hall sensor has been
warped/mislocated over time (such as a bend shaft or casing
not seating it correctly although it visually looks right).

There is one other suspect that comes to mind from urban
legend (i.e. - gossip from others) based on your symptoms,
and I can't say that it even exists (I've never
investigated it), but rumors to the effect are sufficient
to warrant mentioning it: supposedly many Audi's have a
fuel cut-off system that is triggered if the crash
detection subsystem is activated (the same sensors that
trigger the air-bags, although if I understand it
correctly, the fuel cut-off occurs on a single sensor
triggering, while the airbags require two or more to trip
at the same time before igniting themselves). If this is
the case, then the reset for it is, the same rumors would
have it, supposedly under the rear seat, somewhere in the
vicinity of the battery...

I have seen the impact sensors go bad over time on other
makes and models, and if one was borderline, a jar or bump
might have been enough to push it over the edge.

PS - anyone else who can confirm or deny this fuel cut-off
safety system? I've always been curious...

I do wish you the best of luck!
Cheers!
