[s-cars] CD Player help...

I bought a used 10 disc CD player with a broken cassette motor. I fixed that,
and got the cassette out and now that part works fine, but when I turn on the
radio to play the CD's, the player goes dead and won't budge. I had the
outside case off when I did this, is there some sort of sensor that would
tell the player it is off? Has anyone else had a similar issue? The silver
box seems to be working fine.

Or, if anyone has investigated where to get these repaired and can help with
a lead that would be great!
