[s-cars] Suspension Question

Andrew,
The '92 S4 stock springs are a good spring, but warning, they are not wagon
specific. In other words, they are only designed for a sedan and may not be
able to appropriately support the extra weight (near 200 lbs in the ass
end). I was the same as you. I didn't want to go too stiff and I mostly
didn't want to lower my wagon as much as the H&R or Eibachs would. Best
option I found (and I did a lot of research) was the european "Sport"
springs wich, coincidently are wagon specific for your car. They are
supposedly a good bit stiffer however only drop the car 20 mm (roughly 3/4")
maintaining the same stance. You will want to run these with Bilstien HD's
(not the "sport" shock). The springs seem like the right solution, however
are not cheap at $480. I got them from Alexander Van Gerbig
(http://www.euro-audi-parts.com) who was a pleasure to do business with.
At this time, I also highly reccomend replacing the control arm assembly and
inner/outer sway bar bushings since you have to drop the sway bar to remove
the strut assemblies.
I am going to do this procedure and take photos, list part numbers, etc
within the next few weeks, so more will follow on my impressions of these
springs once they are installed.
Later,
Dan
