This summer I am replacing my 96 S6 Avant's suspension (shocks/springs). I
am aware of the option that is regularly referenced on the list, the
Eibach/Bilstein option. What I have not seen discussed much are OEM options
for this car. From what I have read the US suspensions got progressively
softer over the years (mine being the softest). I am not necessarily
interested in lowering the car considerably (a little would be nice) or
losing much of the comfort this car has on the road, but what I am looking
for is a little firmer ride that will get rid of some of the roll, dive,
squat, etc. It would seem that a 92 S4's suspension components would work
for my purposes. I would get the marginal improvement in performance/feel
w/o sacrificing much of the comfort. Also, I would not be looking at a
complicated installation if it is OEM (referring to the camber and height
issues associated with the Eibach springs).
What are others thoughts? Would an early S4 suspension make sense? What
about euro-spec components?
