I completed the V1 mod last year.

As I own a 92, I was in a bit of a dilema re where to mount the display, as
I like my trip computer and it's (somwhat inaccurate) data.  the other
people who have done this mount their remote display in that area.

Mine is in a custom cut-out just above the fuel gauge.  pretty tight.

I have heard or seen a picture of the fitment of the external remote display
for a Valentine 1, and somewhere seen a retrofit of a digital clock in the
Auto-trans indicator area. NOt sure if I have any of the links,

This seems interesting, but round dials are best IMO
