You know Sandy, in all this talk about "race gas" and power, I believe
unless you are driving your CR up (which running 28 psi of boost is
certainly accomplishing), dumping in race gas (i.e. high octane fuel) can
actually have the effect of turning your potential engine power, .... down
:-(

Sooooo, ... maybe one of the real balancing acts one is asking their ECU to
run is, "How LOW an octane fuel can I get away with running for power (i.e.
BTU's per #Lb of fuel burned) with out knocking a hole in a piston or worse.

I think this must be sort of like one of Pizzo's perennial date quandaries,
"Do I ask the pretty one out who may or may not, or .... one of those cheap,
desperate, low octane brands that really puts out the heat?" :-) I think I
hear the moaning now.

I think you can run 28 psi without race gas .... but it should be somewhere
north of the artic circle when its very, very, very cold and snowy. Perfect
Quattro country.

OTOH, maybe one of the list chemists / engineers &/or closet nitromethane
tolulene adicts will chime in and correct my erroneous ways & thoughts here.

~Well, you can't really run 28lbs without racegas ....
