Hi all,
Thank you very much for your responses and offers. I am still considering
them all and would like to inform you of the reason for the delay.
After looking under the car with a mechanic at the shop it seems the nut
came off the control arm. Why? I don't know. The control arms were NOT new
as claimed. The bushings were actually quite worn. Rather disturbing. I
enclosed a couple photos.
Anyway while I was there the shop made me an offer to buy the whole car
which I am considering. Actually they are offering me $4000 in trade for
one of a few A4's they are selling (99 90kmi, 98 84kmi). It saves me a lot
of headache and get's me a good deal on a possibly very good car so I am
considering it. I still may end up parting it out myself piece by piece and
if I do sell it to them I will surely let you all know whom to contact as I
believe they will want to part it out to make their money back. I know it's
not as nice as buying from a private lister but it's a LOT easier for me and
I believe they will be eager to get the car parted out and out of the
garage. If any of you would be willing to give me that or more for the
whole car I surely would consider that as well. I have photos of the in and
out of the car if you're interested in something like that. I believe the
car will have a salvage title and be uninsurable if repaired but there are a
lot or parts useable on the car.
Please don't get turned away by all of this. I'm just trying to figure out
what is the best option for me and my family.
If you are interested in photos of specific parts that are of interest to
you, please email me directly. I don't want to pill up the list with photos
of everything.
I appreciate your patience and hope to have this all worked out soon. I
will keep you all posted.
