Haven't BTDT, yet.
Spring replacement with the struts in the car isn't too bad. Assuming the
strut cartridge is removed, you need to jack the car up, remove the outer
CV/hub bolt, and then use about a 4 foot piece of 2x4 and a helper. Place
the 2x4 under the subframe, in front of the strut, and on top of the swaybar.
Yes, it sounds bad, but it works great. Use the 2x4 and the helper to pull
the strut down. It will give you enough room to remove the spring. You want
to pull the strut housing outboard while you're doing this. Failure to
remove the CV bolt will result in the strut housing not being able to be
pulled outboard very far. Once your spring is out, you can install the new
one in the same fashion. You'll need to use caution on reinstall to avoid
damage to the upper strut bearing, and to insure it is aligned correctly. It
had 3 recesses in it to clear the upper strut mount bolts... make sure those
remain aligned. Thar's about it... and it'll save you some hours.
