[s-cars] Mid-door trim...

I predict in another few months you'll find the trim on the bottom of the
door will also need to be replaced.

My S4 has 155k miles. I've replaced the mid door trim twice and the bottom
trim once. I'm guessing that they're very susceptible to the MagChloride
bathing we Coloradoans endure every winter.

CT,
The mid door trim... ha ha. There is a metal strip inside the rubber. It
rusts, expands, and eventually the expansion causes the plastic clips to
flex
and break. I just received yesterday a complete set of new ones, since one
fell off, and the others look as if they'll soon follow.

I would be glad to give you the ones that I remove... but I think you are
just delaying the inevitable. I bought mine from Park Place Motor Cars in
Rochester, MN. I usually talk to a parts guy named Mark. He seems pretty
knowledgeable, and gets stuff fast. They also give 20% off to Q club
members... and they don't ask for your number, if you aren't a member.
Their
phone # is 800.745.1358. The cost with this discount is $50.04 each for the
fronts, and $41.76 each for the rears. They come complete with all the
clips
already installed. Still isn't a bargain, but it's better than the price
you
were quoted. The down side to replacing these trim pieces... one of those
plastic clips is screwed to the door from the inside. So your door panel
has
to come off to replace them. The part number for the screw is N-904-998-02,
those are .18 each... one each on the rears, two each on the fronts.

Dave in CO
