Ken,

It's trying to tell you not to change the oil yourself but to take the car
to the Audi dealership where they can change the oil for you and then use
their VAG 1551 to reset the oil change interval until the next time.

Now, ways to take care of the annoyance yourself:

1. Do what the car is telling you to do. (Ex$pen$ive)
2. Disable the odometer LEDs so that the flashing light doesn't flash
anymore. (Perhaps undesirable.)
3. Take the car to the dealership and politely ask them if they will
reset it for you using their VAG 1551. (Depending on the cooperation level
of the dealership this might either be satisfactory or not.)
4. Invest in the VAG-COM software and do the rather simple job
yourself. (Expensive if you do it only a few times but the cost is a fixed
cost which does not increase every time you do it.)
5. There is another software package designed to do the same as
VAG-COM but on a different platform (Palm Pilot?)
6. Forget about it and learn to live with the annoyance.
7. Sell the car - quickly.
8. Cultivate the friendship of someone possessing VAG-COM or the 1551.

Have I overlooked anything?
