This is true Serge.
A lot of clubs (Q Club doesn't, but still isn't as big as others)... but I
know our local BMW Club chapter has a "tech inspection" clinic and they
actually go through your car and check it all out BEFORE you show up at the
event. And, go over some other things you should do before any track
event... mostly changing oil, checking pad and rotor wear, testing coolant,
and bleeding brakes.
Might be a good thing to go through, at least for the first time if you can
find someone in the area putting on such a clinic.
BTW, I think Watkins Glen is a decently long track with some long straights,
so good working brakes will be crutial. If you have weak brakes, they may
not last a two-day event (BTDT @ Road America).
