Ouch! I am sorry to hear about the less than sympathetic run in with Johnny
Law.
You are the first, so far as I know to eschew the tack weld Key locks and go
with the OEM drill & tap route to add a second bolt. Congratulations. In
originally discussing the project, I'd purchased a pair of the OEM bolts
from the dealer and a drill & tap. We discussed including one of each with
each set of adapters when the machinist came up with the "Key" lock idea.
I'd was a bit worried about someone not getting the drill in exactly the
right spot on the control arms; or having to pull the lower control arms to
put them in a drill press to do the job right; or screwing up taping the
hole in some way, so we never even tried it. I am glad you have found it
not as complicated as I had mentally made it out to be.
On Brian's issue, I hadn't noticed any problems when running the car with
all the stock Audi OEM rear stabilizer components, i.e., principally the
17mm bar and the Audi Heim links which are quite a bit different in shape
and configuration than the adjustable ones that come in Hap's kit. I'm
speculating here, but I wonder if there could be a difference in the hiem
link bolt "offsets" between Hap's kits adjustable version and the stock part
that, together with the thicker bar itself, puts the heim link bolt closer
to the CV boot? I don't have one of Hap's hiem links handy to compare to
the stock part, but if I can pick one up this weekend sometime I'll try to
take a side by side photo and some measurements. If that's part of it,
could the problem be cured or avoided with an appropriate spacer of some
kind?

~Ah... but alas, I did drill and tap the control arms, and use the OE 8x1.25
~thread bolts. Sounds more difficult than it is. The metal in the
~control arm
~casting is quite soft. Literally took minutes to complete.

~WRT a report on my feelings about the bar. Hmmm... wow. It really is a
~stunning improvement. I can't put that into quantifiable terms,
~it's just great.

~ Somehow he failed to
~appreciate my newly discovered cornering stability, as he bounced around in
~his Caprice attempting to catch up.

~Now I'm just contemplating a plea bargain.
