You're right, most clubs require a thorough tech inspection prior to arriving at the event. PCA definitely does this and they also have some requirements w/ regard to who does the inspection to make sure that the car is properly inspected. They also do a trackside inspection, which is much more cursory.

For a place like the Glen, you better make sure your brakes are in top-notch condition- I faded my brakes at the end of the day at the Glen, from hitting 140 on the back straight and getting the car back down to 65-70 (yes, I know I'm slow) for the chicane.
