[s-cars] ECS Stage II brakes report

Hi Edwin;

It sounds like ECS' brake line supplier has some quality control problems.
I'd be tempted to change out all of their lines with lines from a reputable
brake line supplier.

Subject: [s-cars] ECS Stage II brakes report

Hi there,

I finally installed the ECS Stage II kit from the group buy way back
last year (am I the last one to do it? :). All went well except for two
things:

(1) right rear hard line decided to twist and snap off due to a seized
nut on the end, forcing me to quickly run (not drive) to the store and
buy a flaring kit, a piece of line, and fittings so I could cut off the
mangled end and make an extension to the hard line.

(2) the ECS-supplied SS front brake line was not crimped all that well,
it seems, because the fitting literally popped off the end of the SS
line after the 5th stop I made while breaking in the pads. I then had to
use my madz driving skillz to trail brake and 4-wheel drift through a
sweeping right hander using my handbrake to scrub off speed before
getting the car to the side of the road. Fortunately, for some odd
reason I got 2 extra rear brake lines in my kit (??) and screwed them
together to make one long brake line to finish the install by the side
of the road.

Other than that, the car stops great! But I'm going to take it easy on
the brakes until I get a replacement front brake line. I don't feel
comfortable running around with a cobbled-together line that has another
set of potentially failure-prone fittings on it.

Being that it is a long weekend, I don't expect to be able to get in
touch with ECS Tuning until Tuesday morning. But I thought I'd send this
in so that others who participated in the group buy might want to
double-check the brakes line supplied in the kit. I'm sure it's a
once-in-a-million occurence, but it's one that I don't want to repeat,
nor for anyone else.

Regards,
Edwin
