[s-cars] Windshield Washer Motor Woes

Hi Mike;

The windshield washer pump does indeed have two attachments - the upper
attachment is for the top end of the tube that contains the low level
sensor. If I recall correctly, you pull the upper tube out of the grommet
and then pull the lower nozzle up out of it's grommet.

Subject: [s-cars] Windshield Washer Motor Woes

Ok folks - the more I look at the Bentley CD, the more I hate it. Maybe I'm
just stupid, but I can't for the life of me find out how to remove the
windshield washer motor from the resevoir on my '92 s4.

There are two pumps - from what I can tell, the white one operates the
headlight washers and the black one operates the windshield washers. I got
the
white one out, no problem. Just popped it straight up and out the grommet,
but
the lower black one is more of a mystery. It looks like it has some some of
second attachment point higher up on the motor and I'm a little reluctant to
try to pop this one straight up.

I'm doing all this because the resevoir leaks all the water out in about 10
minutes. I pulled the resevoir and couldn't find any leaks and the motors
appear to be fine, so I'm thinking it's either the grommets for the motors
or
the connections for the headlight washer system. I'm replacing all the
original hoses and factory clamps and would like to lube up the grommets
with
water proof grease to give them a tight fit.

Any insight appreciated - For either how to use the Bentley or simply to
provide me with the answer.

Thanks!

Mike Bishoff - '92 S4 with new oil, oil/air/gas filters. But still leaking
washer.
