Hi David,
You started a very dangerous thread there... and may be two. First, you
found something wrong with the Recaro seats, may be the only parts of
this car which is not upgraded even by the worst empty wallet junkies.
You'd better buy a Nomex coverall right away. Let's call it your first,
most usefull upgrade when you join a community so devoted to the best
car ever made in entire universe. No joke! At least I'll maintain this
statement until I put my hand on my own Nomex suit.
Then, you asked for more performance. You'd better install a T1
connection to keep up with the few (!) answers you'll receive. The most
tedious will recommend a MTM Stage I+ chip upgrade. A very reliable
upgrade which gives exactly what you want and no more, for the next 200K
miles if the car is well maintained. Then, you'll need the Samco hoses
upgrade as the OE intake hose usually blow open with the additional
pressure. You could stop there but, If 100 listers have not already told
you, you'll soon discover that, in fact, what the urS needs the most is
more stopping power. If you listen to the list, you'll never go the
cheap way, better rotors (Zimmerman are not bad) and brake pads (Pagid
for example), but instead follow the no-limit route, aka Porsche 996tt
brake upgrade. Then, with a car which has so much go and stop, you'll
find the cornering ability is not par with the potential of you new
upgrades. So, Bilstein/Eibach shock/spring combo will be the next "must
have". But your car will now be able to handle even more power and the
list won't be long to convince you that you can't decently live longer
without the RS2 stuff, preferably with an Happersized intercooler as the
most powerfull 5 cylinder ever built for mass by Audi isn't really
enough and you can't really appreciate this car without going one step
further. Oh, and I forgot about the several additional gauges you need
to know what you're driving: boost gauge, air/fuel gauge, oil pressure
gauge and I'm certainly missing a few others.
Let me think twice. In fact, you got the best advice in the first
e-mail: bury your wallet, really deep, and never, never, never place any
signs which could remind you where it's buried.
Vincent.

bank I deal with.

Objet : [s-cars] Front Seats In 1994 S4/ Performance Advice
Hello everyone! Having just purchased a 1994
Pearl White S4 with 75k miles, I am new to the s4
craze and audi enthusiast movement in general. I
actually backed into this vehicle somewhat, as I
traded a 1998 Corvette back to the same guy I had
bought it in hopes of getting a more baby friendly
car. Little did I know, that instead of ending up
with a boring ES300 Lexus or something else, I ended
up with a wonderful sporty sedan instead. I love the
vehicle.
1) That being said, even with a 32 inch waist I have
to say that the seats, with their stiff bolsters take
a little getting used to. I am actually worried about
my wife, as she gets bigger during pregnancy, having
difficulty riding shotgun with me. Has there ever
been an insert or some other bolster sold that can be
easily placed in an S4 seat that would lessen the
restriction that the side bolsters provide?
2) If someone were looking to add 25 to 50 horse to
an S4 and perhaps a bit more torque, is there a way to
do this and spend say 500 or 600 bucks and not affect
the longevity of the engine? My first thought was
chip, but that would be new territory for me both in
terms of understanding the long term consequences as
well as understanding what else, besides the chip
addition, would need to be added to the car.
Any thoughts are welcomed and I am excited to be a
part of the S4 community. Any folks from atlanta on
here? It seems to be a largely northern crew!
