HUH?
And, uh, hope you know, I meant no disrespect, etc., from my lurker comment.
Just was contacted by people I've NEVER seen before on the list, from FAR
out places, and that it was good to hear from them. That's all.
That you felt compelled to comment on this is curious. Thoughts? Dr. Freud
is most curious.

I've had three "older" Audis with this problem. I've managed to avoid
buying a new ISV so far, by carrying out a thorough cleaning - one ISV
needed a repetition after a couple of years.
1. Remove ISV from car.
2. Attach a couple of long croc clip leads to the ISV terminals.
3. Fill jam jar half full of favourite degreaser (Carb Cleaner etc.)
4. Place ISV in jam jar ensuring all ports are immersed.
5. Cover jam jar (including ISV) with cling film and seal as best you can.
6. Connect an intermittent 12V supply to other end of croc clip leads.
7. Be VERY careful not to ignite degreaser from sparks caused by connecting
and disconnecting supply - if you blow your hair off, don't blame me!
You should notice that when you first insert ISV into degreaser, some of the
black crud that has accumulated inside gets dissolved and floats out of the
ports. When you start pulsating 12V across the terminals, a load more comes
out.
I don't know why ISVs cost such ridiculous amounts of money - $50 would be a
fair price, $200 is obscene.

p.s. would Mr Krasusky classify me as a lurker? What is the official
definition of a lurker anyway? Somebody without the -v switch?
