Subject: [s-cars] Stebro vs. Stromung exhaust
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone on the list would know what I
could gain from a new Stebro or Stromung REAR exhaust
performance wise (as I only have the money for the
rear portion now, and would have to do from the turbo
back later)? I have no idea what a Stromung rear runs,
but I have been to the Stebro website and at roughly
$400 it isn't too bad. Also, I would like for the
exhaust note to sound louder and less restricted but
not boomy and exhausting over long high way trips.
Does anyone know if one of these manufacturers is more
like what I described than the other?

Matt-
My brain must be waterlogged from LRP yesterday to make me do this.
As I don my Nomex here in sunny CT (yeah, 'sunny', right), thought I'd throw
out something contrary to popular belief. Seems just about all agree that
little to no power gains are had by adding an exhaust, as the OE setup flows
quite nicely. That being said, I for one was hard pressed to jump on the
Stromung Express as all I was looking for was some desperately needed SOUND
from these quite purrers. For less than 1/2 the dough, I got all the sound
I was looking for with the Stebro cat back.
Dare I say I like the sound better (Nomex on nice and snugly)??? Even more
do I dare say the Stromung dual tip looks a bit on the bloated side, unless
it's on an Avant, as well as unfortunately looking a hair Ricey these days
(it wouldn't if the Ricers hadn't ruined this look... which they
have.)????? (body armor now going over Nomex).
I throw this out here simply as another data point, that's all. Please
don't bombard me with "he said 'Jehovah'.... STONE HIM!!!!" replies, my
intent is only to share *my* experience with the same decision Matt's trying
to make. Unless someone has dyno data of each side by side, with same SW
installed? I'm guessing no unfortunately...
Call it similar but different... and... opinions are like arseholes
remember. The scratch I saved covered my chip, that didn't suck.
Anytime you feel like making the 2 hour drive down I90 East here to sunny
CT, you're welcome to compare / contrast both, side by side, there's a
number of us here with either, and we get together often.
