My turn:
I had something similar with a Porsche. It was the ignition switch going
bad. To prove it (at least in my car) when the functions went away I did not
shut off the car but merely wiggled the key back and forth, up and down. When
the features came back the car went into the shop. You surely don't want the
switch to die where your only option is to call for a tow!
