I _think_ the heater blower on the s4/s6 is similar to the one on my 90
in that it is the "squirrel cage" style which draws air in near the
firewall. Mine was making a hell of a racket and I figured I was going
to need to replace it. I opened up the inlet to find that the screen
was missing and I found a friggin mouse nest in the fan! Cleaned it
out, replaced the blower resistor (the extra resistance prolly blew it
the first time) and the fan has been noise free ever since.
YMMV, but worth inspecting before ordering the $$ replacement part.
