In general, yes. There are some parts that you really can use stainless
on if you want. As an example, the nuts that hold the ball joint to the
control arm. I used stainless locknuts there and I'm totally confident
in them. In this case if I had used a stainless bolt that had the
appropriate shoulder the incident on the highway would have never
happened.
I use plenty of stock hardware on my car where it is obvious: the brake
caliper retaining bolts, the subframe bolts, stuff that is obviously
under lots of load.
